This testing site does not have free parking. There is pay-to-park street and garage parking in the immediate area.

Give yourself plenty of time to park and make it to your scheduled exam time.


Wichita Testing Center

There are two buildings in the 400 North Woodlawn complex. We are located on the lower level of the 2nd building to the East. NOT THE BUILDING THAT HAS PARKING UNDER IT!

Candidates should park on the south side of the building along the wood fence and use the main entrance on the south side of the building.

DO NOT PARK IN RESERVED PARKING AT THIS SITE! You may be towed without warning.

Suite 104 is located on the first floor.

What if my name, address or birthday is incorrect in the system?

To request a name, address or birthdate change in the system, you must provide a clear scan or digital photo of your photo ID (driver's license, passport, etc.) and a copy of official documentation (Social Security card, birth certificate, marriage license, etc.) which shows the correct information. Please fax this to 425-977-0566 with the request to make the change.

What is the testing process for Cosmetology Apprentices?

Cosmetology Apprentices who are referred for testing at 1000 hours will pay for both their written theory and practical test.

They will be able to schedule their written theory exam immediately. They can schedule retests for their written theory exam as needed.

When they are within 80 hours of completing their training and have at least 1420 hours recorded in the system, they can schedule their practical test. Their complete program hours must be recorded in the system before the test date. Apprentices with incomplete hours will not be allowed to test.

What is the testing process for Body Art Apprentices?

Body Art Apprentices follow these steps to sign up for testing:
Within 80 hours of completing their program the trainer should refer the apprentice for testing.
Go to the KBOC website http://www.kansas.gov/kboc/
Download the Body Art Application for Examination
Complete the form and submit it to KBOC with all required documentation and payments

If you were enrolled in a Body Art Program before July, 2013:
Include the Apprentice Final Record
Include all Training Log Sheets

If you were enrolled in a Body Art Program July, 2013 or later:
DO NOT include the Apprentice Final Record
DO NOT include all Training Log Sheets

Once KBOC reviews and verifies your documentation, you will be able to schedule and pay for your tests.

I am moving from another state, how do I get a Kansas State License?

Complete the out of state application form, and meet the Kansas Board of Cosmetology's requirements for licensure.

How do I renew or reactivate my Kansas State License?

Go to the Kansas Board of Cosmetology web site. There are instructions listed there.

How do I test to get a new license in Kansas State?

Please refer to the Candidate Exam Preparation Guides for your career field.

How do I apply for ADA Accommodations for taking my exam(s)?

Applications for Testing Accommodations will be considered in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). To apply for accommodations for your exam(s), you must:

NTN will notify you with the decision regarding the ADA accommodation request.

This process may take several weeks.

Do not schedule your test until you have NTN approval.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my exam? What is the refund policy?

You can request an exam reschedule up to seven (7) calendar days before your exam date. A schedule change is not allowed six (6) days preceding your exam date. Reschedule requests can be done in your candidate account on cosmetologykansas.com where you view your exam schedule.

Exam fees are non-refundable.

We do not accept rescheduling requests over the phone.

I do not have a credit card, how do I pay?

With a credit card, you can schedule your test instantly.

If you do not have a credit card you can mail in a payment for a voucher.

To apply for a voucher, log onto your candidate account and click on the 'Pay by Check' link. Print the voucher request form and mail it, with your money order or cashier's check, to the address listed.

Once your payment is received, a voucher number will be mailed to you. Schedule your tests and use the voucher number to pay.

Voucher purchases will take two weeks to process.

What are some helpful hints for exam safety and sanitation? How do I know if my testing site is closed due to weather or emergency?

In the case of exam site closures due to extreme weather conditions or staff emergencies, candidates will be notified by the testing center as soon as possible. When possible, they will be notified at least 2 hours before the scheduled exam time. After candidates receive notification, they can submit a reschedule request through the “Contact Support” link on our website or call into our Customer Support Team and they will assist with a reschedule.
